Jim, rude derision doesn't persuade.   Civility remains important:  agree to disagree, yes, but throwing vomit at people you've known (at least on-line) for 10-15 yrs?

That's my main point.

As to the debate about Israel's mistreatment of the Palestinians -- removing the Palestians forcibly from their long-held homesteads is wrong, just wrong, and causes further strife.   To justify it based on 2500-4000 yr old religious beliefs doesn't make it ok.    Nor does justifying it based on the horrors of WW2, etc.

It was wrong when settlers did it to Australian aborigines, it was wrong when settlers did it to the First Peoples of Canada, it was wrong when settlers did it to Native Americans of the US, Mexico, Cuba, South America, etc.   But back then, those communities were crushed/wiped out by those taking over their long-held homes.   In the 20th and 21st century, the Palestinian and other Arab communities within Israel had more ability to protest.

Human rights violations are wrong, wherever they take place, and can't be justified.
