Why do you say you have no idea? You must have some idea otherwise you wouldn't have headlined the UN resolution. I can't see the connection between the American civil war & the Siege of Israel, & what is 'this anger' that Nixon & Reagan sold....
There's no clear reason why outsiders should take sides in someone else's dispute, but it seems we humans have great difficulty in doing otherwise. For myself, I took the side of Israel nearly 50 yrs ago, as a result of heated adolescent conversations with my uncle John. He'd been a soldier in Burma in WW2 & reckoned he'd never have got back alive if it hadn't been for the way General Orde Wingate looked after his men. Before the war Wingate had been in the Palestine Protectorate & had set up the Jewish defence force which became the IDF after independence. Moshe Dayan was one of his proteges. I've never seen any good reason since to change my mind, despite finding out much later that Wingate's private world view was one I would now categorise as insane.
It isn't a perfect world.
