he was a premie - singer - he played no instruments - he sang at many a program in the 80's and 90's

he was a founding member of the group "the soul survivors" who had a hit song "expressway to your heart" in the 1960's

the soul survivors still play in atlantic city - and are usually a part of every 60's revival concert on tv and elswhere

I often wondered if Donald Fagan was referring to Richie & Crew when he wrote Hey Nineteen.

"Hard times befallen the Soul Survivors..."

No matter, Richie's voice was timeless and sensuous. I'm sorry he's gone.

Like so many premies, we saw eachother year after year at programs. Many I never knew by name but caught one another's eye as we passed in the hall.

Hmm, those were the days. I wonder if Prem cares about his lost legions of devotees ? Or is sentiment like that too human for a Sat Guru ?

#@^&%$*!

Richie [and Chaaalie] singing "[Be a] Lover to Me" was one of the great acts of all time.  RIP, Richie.  Miss him so much.  It was a small community and he was one of the nicest people anyone knew.  So sad.
