Body Shaming? Do you mean this: "K. was tall, slim and handsome, Rawat was short, dumpy and ugly." That is a statement of fact that anyone of thousands of photos can demonstrate. Krishnamurti was remarkably handsome as is George Clooney. That's life. I'm fat and ugly. Have I body shamed myself now?

I'm just glad you read the whole article and won't forget it now.

Anyway I actually wanted to post about a different kind of Rawati$m music. Those hazy, crazy days of 1972 and 73. It seems that any premie with a guitar just couldn't help exploding in hippy, dippy, naive, happy, sappy songs about their wonderful glorious new life in the sunshine and rainbows that their Lord and Creator and father was gracing themwith.

Early U.S. Premie Music

Pretty well anyone who could play some chords and hold a tune could sing at their local satsang meetings but it took more musical talent to have a tape recorded and sold by Divine Light Mission. The musicianship may have been more sophisticated but the early lyrics were simple, apparently certain in their beliefs though it is extremely likely that most of these musicians no longer believe that Prem Rawat is God come down to earth. The Philadelphia Bliss Band had what sounds like a virtuoso klezmer clarinet player which gave them a unique sound.

Back in August (1973) premie musicians from all over America were called to Los Angeles to record an album. The musicians, numbering 23 in all, came from a variety of bands. Guru Maharaj Ji decided that the album should be called "Who Is Guru Maharaj Ji?" For a number of reasons, however, the record encountered difficulties and eventually Bhole Ji called the project off. At this point seven of the band left to go on tour with Guru Maharaj Ji, who decided to call the group The Apostles. After the tour The Apostles went down to Houston to rejoin some of the original band, a few of whom had been spirited off into Blue Aquarius. Soon afterwards four members decided that they wanted to play acoustic music and so split to form the Bliss Band.
