Susan, I haven't finished reading your post yet but for heaven's sake what makes you think I am saying it's ok? If I said cannibalism has been widely practised in the past would you assume that meant I thought it was ok???
My view is that it helps to recognise it is relatively widespread, it doesn't make it any more acceptable, does it. Not one whit.
I do understand what you are saying about there being apologists - I thoroughly dislike that stuff and I do not believe the article I referred to was written from that stance.
