What's really striking to me today with all of these old idealistic stories from the 70's, amidst the new sordid revelations about prem and family members, is how ironic it is that it has fallen so far, while never acknowledging the fall....prem started out in the west over 50 years ago, preaching peace and love, which was like catnip to a hippy generation in decline, and more than talk, he had the answer! Knowledge! And he and his family were of course the best examples of this holiest of holy, knowledges of all knowledges...
And now, 50 years later, when we all thought we would be living in the golden age with prem as a universally acknowledged world leader, he is a broken man with a broken wife and family, and 95+% of his students have left him and the teaching...family issues, alcoholism, angry exes, cast aside mistresses, disillusioned premies.....and never an acknowledgment of the problems, just another ill begotten venture into another aspect of bringing knowledge to the world....ironic that the guy who told us that we all needed inner peace, can't possibly have too much for himself these days....I guess the teaching wasn't all it was cracked up to be...
