30 years ago when we were in the cult, very many of us spent significant amounts of our time concentrating on the sound of our tinnitus trying to give the experience a divine spin. For most of us, this was the Divine Music, bestowed on us by the grace of the Lord to lead us to enlightenment.
Now here we are, old farts with failing senses and bodies, dealing with tinnitus in much more down-to-earth and realistic ways. It's just one of the ways some of us are declining. I know I don't have the patience to put a few drops in my ears for months. But I'd be glad to be no longer plagued by what I used to regard as a signal from the divine.
I think the contrast between how we regard that sensation between then and now is very funny, quite ludicrous. What vapid people we were! And now, trading folk remedies to try to cure the same sensation.
