Maharishi was a more financially successful destructive personality cult leader than Maharaj Ji. TM created lots of corporations that allowed the cult to have control over public image, and, of course, make more money.
A cult is a cult is a cult. It can consist of two people or two million with a dictatorial leader. Rawat has decades-long devotees who are quietly very wealthy. Maharaj Ji is more interested in sucking more money out of fewer followers than becoming famous. $850K a month ain't chicken feed.
